American Idols in the making

The girl's daycare had a small Christmas program on Friday afternoon. Caysen was so excited to be a part of it and has been practicing the songs for days. Different story for Amaya! She really didn't want to do it at all. She wasn't a fan of the songs and felt she was too old for the whole thing! (She is one of the oldest at the daycare.) She was a trooper and got through it. They, of course, did very well. Check out the pronunciation on Caysen.

I think she REALLY wanted everyone to understand the words, I guess.

Schools out...

I finished my last paper and had my final yesterday. I am ecstatic that this term is OVER!! Only 2 more terms to go! I now have 3 weeks off with no school, no homework, no teachers. Let the Christmas festivities begin...as well as the housecleaning (cuz it's a mess!!).

What lies ahead..

I feel like there is never a light at the end of the tunnel for me. Not only does it seem like my schooling keeps going and going, but everything keeps happening to me making it tougher. Illnesses with me, illnesses with the girls, financial woes, more responsibilities at work...I feel so much PRESSURE! All of the pressures make me not want to even do my schoolwork and I am falling behind...And I NEVER get behind in schoolwork!! I wanted to quit a couple of weeks ago but something happened yesterday that allowed me to finally see that light. It is very faint but the light is there.
Yesterday, I picked up my application for graduation. Can you believe it? I have to turn in my GRADUATION application!! I still have the rest of this term and two more after, but I am already getting ready for graduation! Let me tell you...after 6 years to get 2 degrees, I cannot wait to be done with classes and homework. This is so exciting and I cannot wait to take that walk across the stage. So, save the date...June 13, 2009...Misty's GRADUATION and big ol' celebration after!!

The Punk Rocker and the Biker Chick

I have to say that I think this year's costumes are my favorites so far! Not only were they cheap (under $10 for both) but these girls look AWESOME!!! Both of them took on their characters very well...they both had a hard attitude. Amaya kept showing her "rock on" sign and Caysen would pretend to ride a Harley and gave everyone a mean look (which she happens to be good at anyway!).

We ate at Sweet Tomatoes because kids eat free on Halloween. Then we went trick-or-treating in, as the girls say "rich people place", aka the nice neighborhood. Amaya and Caysen were so proud to come home with 4 full sized candy bars. Almost a week later, hardly any candy has been eaten because I limit it and mommy has only eaten two pieces due to getting the flu. So I think that we will be eating it all the way into December!!

A great day in America!

Never in my lifetime did I think I would see the day that a black man would be president. I never thought that our country, so filled with a rich history of intolerance, would accept someone to be our leader who was of a different race than white. I am so proud and so excited to see such a historical event come to life within my own lifetime. I am so happy that my girls can see someone that looks like them lead the country they live in. I am thrilled that change will come and we as people of this great country can now come together and get things back on track. What a wonderful day in this country! Congratulations President Obama and congratulations America!!

Funny thing...

My girls have always been ones to say something funny...even witty. Never a day that goes by that I am not laughing about something one of them said. I figure that I must share with the world, or at least my friends who read my blog, the funny things that Amaya and Caysen say.
The other day, Amaya and I went to the library together. As we were walking in the parking lot, she told me that she wants to not only be a doctor but a surgeon because "I wanna help people get better by cutting them open and fixing their insides." She then proceeded to tell me that she would also be making more money then and "I would have money for Caysen's bail!!". Yep, she said it...CAYSEN'S BAIL!
How crazy is it that she knows what bail is, and she said it about her sister. Also crazy is that Caysen will never need bail...at least that is what I keep praying for!!!

First Day of School

I have to say that I have never been one of those parents who would celebrate their children going back to school. I have never been one of those parents...UNTIL THIS YEAR!! I have been counting down the days until this day for about 4 weeks. It has been one LONG summer and the three of us had spent WAY too much time together. Today was a great day.








Amaya is now in the 3rd grade. I cannot believe it!! She has a really nice teacher, Mrs. Graves, who already loves Amaya. Amaya is excited that she has textbooks now.




Caysen lucked out this year. She is in 2nd grade now and has the same teacher as last year. Her teacher, Mrs. Frahm, moved up to 2nd grade and was able to take her whole class with her. Caysen doesn't have to adjust to a new teacher, a new classroom, or new friends. She was hesitant at first this morning, but after a few minutes, she was good to go!

When I picked them up after school they were so excited to tell me about their day. They were even planning their outfits for tomorrow. Here's to a new school year!! May it be a good and LONG one!!
